EROS • érōs "love" or "desire" is a concept in ancient Greek philosophy referring to sensual or passionate love, from which the term erotic is derived. Eros has also been used in philosophy & psychology in a much wider sense, almost as an equivalent to "life energy". Inspired by Eros the Greek God of love, passion & earthly desire. Without warning he selects his targets & strikes at their hearts, bringing confusion and irrepressible feelings or, in the words of Hesiod, he 'loosens the limbs and weakens the mind' - the throws of love make fools of us all, yet to be vulnerable & open is to be truly seen. Eros is most often represented in Greek art as a winged carefree & beautiful young man, crowned with flowers, especially of roses which were closely associated with the god. Rose Quartz to honour Eros was the obvious choice. Rose Quartz also inspires the love of beauty, in self and others, in nature, and especially that which stimulates the imagination – art, music and the written word.Rose Quartz, a silicon dioxide crystal, is one of the most common varieties of the Quartz family. Its name is derived from its soft rose color, which ranges from very pale pink to deep reddish-pink. It usually occurs in massive form, though it sometimes grows in clusters of small prismatic crystals. It varies in clarity from opaque to translucent to a foggy transparency.
